INTRO
The hospitality industry is undergoing a transformation, placing greater value on local identity, cultural immersion, and the quality of guest experience. In Milan, a global design capital, hospitality spaces are increasingly expected to reflect the city’s unique blend of tradition and innovation. Guests seek more than accommodation—they desire authentic, place-based narratives that connect them with Milanese culture.
In this context, design becomes a crucial tool to shape meaningful and memorable experiences that celebrate the spirit of the city while responding to the changing needs of contemporary travellers.
BRIEF
Design a concept for a boutique hospitality space in Milan, integrating a hotel (500 sqm) with a cafeteria. The space may be distributed across different levels and should include a reception, kitchen, shared cafeteria/lounge, and private guest rooms.
The project must reflect a strong relationship with Milanese culture, interpreting local design, food and beverage experiences, lifestyle, and values through materials, colours, functions, and atmosphere. You are expected to conduct research into Milan’s identity, users’ expectations, and urban context to support your design choice.
The proposal should clearly describe the interior layout, spatial narrative, and intended user scenarios.
The outcome must demonstrate a coherent design vision capable of delivering a high-quality and memorable experience for both local and international guests.
