INTRO

The BA in Fashion Design encompasses the multifaceted and evolving fashion design system, preparing students to create clothing and accessories collections, develop strategies and marketing plans for fashion and luxury businesses, and gain experience in fashion product development. Creativity here is not viewed as an abstract exercise but as a skill requiring contextualisation, openness to innovative solutions, and an ability to engage actively with one’s surroundings. An effective portfolio should visually narrate passions, explorations, and skills, conveying a unique creative journey.

1] PORTFOLIO OF PROJECTS (Alternative or additional to the project assignment)

All materials submitted should be clearly labelled with the applicant’s name and contact information and cannot be returned. Digital, paper or internet-based works can be submitted. Portfolios are reviewed on the following qualitative measures: aesthetic awareness, composition, drawing, design, colour perception, spatial perception, quality of presentation, technique, and originality. Favourable consideration is given to strong 2D and 3D work that shows fully rendered pieces, excellent craftsmanship, attention to technique, and original design.

2] PROJECT ASSIGNMENT

• Choose 3 subjects and make 3 research collecting images/pictures related to the chosen subjects.

• Write a short description or list some key words for each subject.

• Develop 3 mini projects related to the chosen subjects, one for each of them. Projects may be pictures, or drawings, or outfit sketches, or technical drawings designed by you, that show your skills. Each of them should include at least 3 images.

  • Portfolio of projects and/or Project assignment - Check out the competition brief for all details. If you apply with both the portfolio and the project assignment, you should provide the material in one sole file in .PDF format
  • Personal Statement - (max 500 words) elaborating on the following questions. In the next future: 1. what job would you like to do after you graduate? 2. why did you choose Domus Academy to achieve that? 3. what are your favorite means of expression? 4. what or who inspires you? 5. how living and studying in Milan will positively influence your work?
  • Diploma - Copy of the higher secondary school diploma or final year school attendance certificate
  • Transcript - Copy of the higher secondary school transcripts
  • English Language Certificate - to be submitted within three months of course start date. (not mandatory)
  • Copy of passport
  • National test certificate - If applicable, copy of the final document for the National test or final exam necessary to enter a higher education institution (not mandatory)
  • Foundation year certificate - If applicable, copy of the final document for Foundation year (certificate of completion along with transcripts) or further studies at University/Academy level (transcripts and study plan) (not mandatory)
