INTRO

Gender-neutral fashion, also known as unisex or gender-fluid fashion, refers to clothing and styles that transcend the binary notion of male and female attire. This movement emerged as a response to the limitations imposed by rigid gender roles, allowing individuals to express themselves authentically.

The rise of gender-neutral fashion can be attributed to various factors, including increasing awareness about gender diversity, the LGBTQ+ rights movement, and the desire for self-expression beyond societal norms.

BRIEF

In an era of evolving gender perceptions and societal norms, candidates are invited to challenge traditional boundaries by reformulating a menswear or womenswear collection from an established brand into a pioneering genderfluid line.

This competition seeks designers who can adapt their perspective of fashion, cultural backgrounds, and artistic influences, while actively engaging with contemporary shifts in society.

Participants are expected to:

• Deconstruct and Reconstruct: choose an existing menswear or womenswear collection from an established brand and transform it into a genderfluid capsule collection of six outfits. This transformation should not only reflect a change in the garments intended gender expression but also innovate in style and functionality. The project must demonstrate a close affiliation with the identity of the selected brand.

• Submit a comprehensive visual dossier that displays the inspirations behind the collection, including cultural, artistic, and societal references. Participants need to include mood boards, sketches, and annotated images that showcase the evolution of their ideas from concept to design.
